NYC

Just over a week now until I'm jetting off to New York for work experience! I'm rather excited to say the least but I have a hectic few days ahead of me. I have to move half my stuff into my new house, half my stuff home as well as packing up for 2 months and sorting out a trip to Spain as well! So posts will be sporadic to say the least for the next 2 months!

wood type

For a while I've been meaning to collate a few complete alphabets of wood type prints. This ended up being the basis for a HUGE book I made in december for our batch production project. Over 5 books I printed 1040 pages in letterpress, each page looked like the one above, containing one example of wood type. Most came from the tray of odd letters in the letterpress workshop which are either broken or don't belong anywhere. Anyway, the other day I spent about 4 hours scanning every page so I could have a digital version. When I eventually get my website up and running I would like to put them all up.

Churchill

A proof I found on the floor of the letterpress room. I'm not sure who did it but it's part of a book of dying words of famous people called 'Famous Last Words' which L2 Graphics have been working on.

lovely letterpress

This is just a little something I did in letterpres the other day. These were in the tray for odds and ends that have no homes : ( which is a shame because I think they are gorgeous and I wish the rest of them were there.

O

This is just a little something that I did in letterpress a while ago. I love the Gill sans O and the letterpress has a whole load of wood cut type in Gill. The o in the middle is Caslon, also wood and also beautiful. I love all the imperfections in wood type.
